Biography
Naz Riahi (she/her) is an Iranian writer, filmmaker, and performance artist living in the USA. She holds an MFA from the New School. Her writing has appeared in a number of publications, including A Public Space, Harper’s Bazaar, Food & Wine, Los Angeles Review of Books, Longreads, Catapult, The Fader, and Guernica. She was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film. Her short film Sincerely, Erik (2020) won a Vimeo Best of the Year Award and was named a NoBudge Best Film of the Year. She has also performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Los Angeles and The Broad museum (also in Los Angeles), and as part of Dynasty Handbag’s Werido Night and Mortified Show. Much of her work explores the spaces, emotions, opportunities and humor of reaching for connection, informed by her experiences as an immigrant from Iran.
